Prewar Slingerland MAYBELL 19 fret Tenor Banjo Neck

This is an original prewar MAYBELL 19-fret, 23″ scale tenor neck (by Slingerland, Chicago, USA) that may be useful for some banjo tinkerer. This is three piece WALNUT with nicely inlaid fingerboard and original frets in very good condition. About 6″ of binding is missing on the bass side of the neck and it appears a few fingerboard checks have been repaired. The peghead has the typical 20s black veneer with “May Bell” in mother of pearl. The black/white/black backstrap is quite attractive….the glue line has dried a bit so it will need a touch of glue and a clamp. This came on an original 10 3/4″ diameter Slingerland Maybell resonator model. The original dowel stick went with the pot assembly so there is no dowel stick included. I’ve included a photo showing the butt end of the heel highlighting some very minor center seam separation which can easily be tightened up with some glue and clamping once you add your dowel stick. A lovely prewar Maybell tenor neck at a fraction of replacement cost!!

vintage  ‘lyric’ tenor banjo- beautiful instrument, great sound. standard wear, very clean,standard belt wear on back it is missing the inlay on the highest fret and the bridge is not original, otherwise no issues.it comes in a great vintage chipboard tenor banjo case, which is in very nice shape. great collectible.the screw on the back says slingerland,chicago,but someone wrote in that it’s a bacon and day banjo, and so the screw on the back may not be original.the serial # is 32605.
